Series 04 · Steel

One watch, made forty times.

We build a single reference and we build it properly. No collection, no seasonal colours, no reason to replace the one you have.

A watch is the only machine most people wear.

Three hundred and eleven parts, running without a battery, keeping time to within a few seconds a day for decades if it is looked after. That is worth showing properly rather than photographing against a slate tile like everybody else.

The watch

Six things worth pointing at.

Scroll, and the watch stays where it is.

01 / 06

Knurled steel bezel

Cut on a rotary index rather than stamped, which is why the flutes stay sharp under a loupe and why it takes nine minutes per case.

Regulated in five positions over ten days before it leaves the bench. Each watch ships with its own timing certificate showing the measured rate, not a typical one.

How it is built

Bench to wrist.

  1. 01

    Parts in

Cases and bracelets machined to our drawings; movements arrive raw and unfinished.

  2. 02

    Finishing

Bridges chamfered, wheels snailed, screws blued. This is the half of the work nobody sees and the half that takes the time.

  3. 03

    Assembly

One watchmaker builds a watch start to finish. No line, no stations, no handing a half-built movement to somebody else.

  4. 04

    Regulation

Ten days on the timing machine in five positions, adjusted until the rate holds. Then the certificate is printed from those readings.

Also offered

What else the workshop does.

A small bench with a long waiting list. These are the things we take on between series.

Any watch we built, and most manual chronographs we did not. Quoted after inspection, never before.

Original parts wherever they exist; made to drawing where they do not. We will tell you when a watch is not worth it.

Cut, not lasered. Included on a series watch, quoted separately on anything else.

Free for the life of the watch. Post it to us and it comes back the same week.

The list

Forty is not many.

Series 04 is allocated in the order enquiries arrive. Tell us your wrist size and we will tell you honestly where you are in the queue.
