Frame 1 of 9: Bluff Terrace, Retaining wall

A wall is a bet on the base you cannot see.

Anyone can set the face stones. What decides whether a wall is standing in fifteen years is the drainage and the compacted base underneath it, which is the part nobody photographs and the part we will not shorten.

What we build

Stone, set properly.

Natural stone and full-bed veneer. No thin-set over block pretending to be masonry.

Drainage stone, filter fabric and a compacted base every time, whatever the height.

Set on a compacted base with polymeric joints, not sand over dirt.

Firebox built to code with a proper flue, then faced in full-bed stone.

Each tread pinned and levelled individually rather than stacked and hoped for.

We tell you honestly whether it needs a rebuild or only a cap — often it is the cap.

How it runs

Quote to capstone.

  1. 01

    Walk the site

Grade, drainage and access looked at in person. The quote comes after that, not before.

  2. 02

    Base and drainage

Excavation, compacted aggregate and drain tile. The half of the job you will never see.

  3. 03

    Set the stone

Laid by the same two masons start to finish, so the coursing stays consistent.

  4. 04

    Cap and clean

Caps pinned, joints finished, site left cleaner than the day we arrived.
